I can't believe I'm saying this, but Joe Manchin has a good idea. 50 state preclearance is 100% correct. The Supreme Court struck down preclearance because it was southern-only, and their motivations were terrible, but we could admit racism isn't limited to the south . . .
this is like the Turkish government going "oh yeah well what if WE recognize the US genocide of indigenous people??" and all of us on the left going "yeah, sounds good, let's go with that"
or white landowners going "oh yeah well if we have to give this land back to the Black people it was stolen from, do we have to give all this other land back to the Native people IT was stolen from??" well, yes, that's the idea!
