last RT: at least around me, beef shank—which has fairly similar cooking characteristics to oxtail IMO—is still quite cheap, even though oxtail has gotten expensive.
I just checked on the stop & shop app, and at my local store oxtail is $8.99/lb (absurd!) but shank is only $3.49/lb
