we spent a couple nights down at my folks' place, since they're fully immunized, R is a week past her 2nd shot, and I'm a week away from my 2nd, and it was mothers' day. they insisted on buying us some fresh fish from the good fish market in their Cape Cod town to take home.
I could (and have) live in the interior of the country very happily, as long as I knew there was an end date. Everyone can have their own opinion, but myself, I don't think I could ever choose to settle "permanently" somewhere without really fresh seafood.

I cook a lot of seafood from frozen—shrimp, cod fillets, etc.—because it's more economical, but good christ almighty there's nothing like really high-quality fresh fish from the nearby ocean.

and again, don't get me wrong, I know there are lots of delicious freshwater fish, and all kinds of other options, but, I mean—and just for me!—nothing can compensate for fresh-never-frozen cod and halibut and sea scallops and so forth.
