As an ex-bucks-rista, people were doing this same extra extra everything nonsense before the app The difference is that now they can’t pipe up to specify “I forgot to say more x y z” after they’ve already paid for the plain drink
I guess it was naive of me to assume people would feel a little bit of shame over inconveniencing everyone behind the counter and in the line behind them if they had to list all that crap off in person.

I listened to the UX lead from Starbucks once give a talk about how they tested the store designs vs app designs, and I gathered they didn’t want people to feel that they were better off ordering in store but limited on app.
