Since I'll need to visit my folks and use my dad's tablesaw for this project, if I do the internal frame I'll have to wait for the 1st of June (or maybe the 1st of July) to cut the four vertical pieces.

"why the first of the month, Scott?" Well, because those ends are double-rabbeted, of course.

Also, I'm going to have to think about the clamping situation. I don't know if my dad has pipe clamps or just C-clamps.

Maybe I should make a papercraft 1/4 scale model to make sure the whole design works

on the other hand, those double rabbets might be hell to model at that scale. the good thing about the frame idea is that if I can get four boards across out of that 1x6, I only need about 38" of length, so I can fuck one up and still have plenty of material to do another.

so if I make that internal frame, then screw the plywood sheathing to the frame (and glue and clamp the edges as well as I can), that should be pretty solid.

but I do need to redesign the removable amp/controls shelf so that it fits inside the frame

oh wait, I need to move the horizontal front piece of the frame down to sit below the amp shelf, too. that simplifies the rabbets on the top front corners, also.

…might want to put some runners along the sides, though, for the shelf to rest on, or maybe just crosspieces? need to think about that more.
