I've got a 10" Jensen Mod speaker that's been sitting around for years waiting for a project, and I also sketched out a design for a cabinet and bought some plywood to build it.

so my plan is to also repair the Ruby amp I built years ago, and design the cabinet so that I can swap out the amp circuit (using a jack to connect to the speaker instead of hard-soldered wires)

(I don't know why sketchup wouldn't let me draw a measurement across the whole diameter of the speaker opening, only the radius, but oh well.)pic.twitter.com/ru1GdJM5gV

a 3D model done in SketchUp of the amp case I plan to build. It will be 14" wide, 16" tall, and 8" deep, house a 10" speaker, and have a 2" high removable control panel above the main 14"x14" front panel, so that the amp circuit can be swapped out.

because good ideas are for chumps (and because plywood end grain isn't pretty) my plan is for all the edge joints to be mitered (but because it's 1/4" plywood, I'm also going to drive screws into those triangular corner braces)

Miters on 1/4" are going to be pretty difficult to align on those edges. Have you considered making a solid wood frame and rabbeting the plywood sides on?

yeah, I realized that was going to be a pain as soon as I picked up the quarter-sheet from home despot. should have ordered the 1/2". I hate to change a plan once I have it in mind, though!

Understood! At the very least, I'd consider doing a full piece of wood along the inside of each edge instead of just the triangles. End grain holds glue poorly, so they'll need as much structural support as possible

Can you tell I haven't done any woodworking in a very long time?
