There's nothing wrong with all the white-people indie rock they publish—I have lots of those records on vinyl, in fact—but a record label, especially one based in NC, publishing only white artists is not a great look

So Dawn Richard seems pretty great, and also I think it's good that Merge seem to be making a real, if quiet, effort over the past several years to diversify their catalog.
