I hate it. If I'm trying to compete in leaderboards, I'm incentivised to do reviews of the first few lessons over and over so I don't deplete hearts, instead of really pushing forward.
oh, also, today I hit 800 consecutive days of German lessons on Duolingo. they should revert the "hearts" change, though. punishing people for mistakes is a very bad way to encourage learning.
