    Encountered many journalists in my career. Hard jobs, low pay, rough hours, little protection from a world full of nuts. Most give their all b/c a trusted free press is vital. Pray for the victims. Reporters aren’t the enemy no matter your politics. We are all in this together.

    On bad nights - and good ones - we can all take a deep breath and remember that every person in this sphere (politicians, reporters, Dems, Reps, libs, cons) are all Americans and human beings, too. Yes we can fight and try to own each other. Yes we can still love each other too.

    Journalists working in particular in small newspapers are the truest believers in being your advocate in your community; the pay isn’t good, hours are awful, but they do it because it’s a calling. They are your neighbors, kids coach & sit in the pews with you on Sunday

    I critique media stories & journalists all the time. But the journalists themselves are just like us - jobs, kids, lives. No one protects them from a world that is fixated on them as individuals. It’s a dangerous job for some. Nobody deserves to be targeted for violence.

    Reporters aren't the enemy, but the notion that we can't criticize the press is pretty absurd. To be fair, you don't seem to be suggesting that.

    With all due respect I’ve been a conservative since I first voted in ‘96. I’ve worked to elect more Republicans than you, I’m sure. And I’ve fought with more journalists on behalf of more Republicans than you. Take stock of what’s in your heart. We are all in this together.

    For as long as I can remember, the democrat media HAVE treated conservatives as the enemy. You don't get it because you're not their target.

    For those who don't know Scott ... it was who, as a Bush 43 WH staffer, during a Senate Judiciary investigation into possible WH criminal conduct, repeatedly asserted his right not to incriminate himself - even refusing to say who paid his salary - US taxpayers!
