New variant BA.2.75.2 — in studies of serum from recovered covid patients, it shows “profound escape,” evading the antibodies produced from prior infections, and raising “concerns that it may effectively evade humoral immunity in the population.” biorxiv.org/content/10.110

“According to data from the CDC, in the last two weeks the BF.7—short for BA.5.2.1.7— has doubled its incidence nationally from 0.8% to 1.7%. The largest growth has been in the Northeast United States, Region 1, where the incidence is now over 3%.”
While it accounted for 1.7 per cent of sequenced infections in America in recent week, it now represents 25 per cent of cases in Belgium, while Denmark, Germany and France have each recorded 10 per cent of the world’s identified cases

So, in layman’s terms, what does this mean for those of us who have, thus far (with isolating, masking, vaccine & boosters) avoided an infection? And is it worthwhile to get the new vaccine? Is the best bet to mask & avoid others again? How long before we know more?
