I think a lot of it has to do with demo online/twitter being on the Spectrum where empathy and subtlety are absent from the hyper-literal.

It's not something easy to identify or communicate in written & often even in live face-to-face communications. However, I did some research since I have been known to use sarcasm from time to time؟ & there is a sarcasm punctuation mark (؟), but it's not available on my keyboard.
