Statues are public decorations, not history. History is in the history books where it belongs. Decorations that offend half of the viewers are not good decorations.

dont you think this is kind of a dangerous precedent to set? there is a statue of teddy roosevelt outside a museum here in New York that lots of people are offended by, does that really mean we should take it down?

Do you think taking down confederate statues has fueled others to take down anything representing “imperialism” or “patriarchy”?? Like Abe Lincoln statues defaced, Thomas Jefferson, etc Slippery Slope, or no?

And I thinking reducing statues to just “decorations” is a bit unfair. What do you think of museums like the metropolitan? Un-historical? We’ve learned about unknown history by unearthing statues and artifacts.
