Statues are public decorations, not history. History is in the history books where it belongs. Decorations that offend half of the viewers are not good decorations.

while I'm not a defender of keeping up any statue whatsoever, leaving history in the history books is a mistake. look at the most beautiful places of the world -> history is ever present. whether in timeless architecture or natural beauty.

I didn't intend to provide a reason. here is a go: what is timeless is organic and we co-evolved organically with the environment. that is why. many new approaches are top-down impositions that do not conform to those same evolutionary dynamics, and we perceive them as ugly.

History is a movie we write and rewrite as needed. If you think one version is the true one, you have missed the most important thing about history.

this is exactly WHY I think it is crucial to not 'leave it in the books'

leaving it in the books reduces the dimensionality drastically, admits much smaller number of stories, forces collapse to very few -- not realistic.

99.999999999999999999% of history is not in statue form. But I acknowledge the tiny truth of your statement.

please note that you have hallucinated that I said statues hold a lot of history. I said relegating history to 'the books' is not a good idea.
