@ScottAdamsSays love your periscopes but your recent query on when a country with a standing army fell to Islam was disappointing. The fall of Constantinople was May 29, 1453. This led to the Balkans and large swaths of Europe conquered until the tide turned at Vienna in 1683.

Sure. How about Lebanon? That was a civil war, but still very recent. East Timor is super recent, although not much of a standing army. Not sure either if you want to count the 1948 India/Pakistan split - not a “war” as much as massive ethnic cleansing displacing millions.

Then there is also the Philippines. They ave been at war with their southern state of Mindanao for hundreds of years and there has been on and off Muslim takeovers for most of that time. See out own General “Black Jack” Pershing on that one.

I could go on but the last real conquest probably was the Battle of Vienna which was the highest high water mark for Moslem conquest in Europe. Anyway, I’m no scholar on this.
