Only inside the Trump Derangement Bubble does he not know the difference. Outside it, he knows.

He obviously has an eccentric view of trade that is based on a sort of 16th century mercantilism mixed with 60 minutes programs on Japan from 1982. Dumb ass MFer. Sad.

Listen to him. He literally thinks that trade deficits equate to an economic loss to the country. It’s mercantilism.

The issue is unfair trade rules. He speaks of trade imbalance as the result. We lose jobs, they gain.

Not an accurate way to conceptualize the problem so it's bound to fail. The free market actually works for the most part and you inevitably have specialization based on comparative advantage. We don't want textile mills in the US when there are better capital allocations.

Dumping below cost is good for the economy? I think your view only works when all sides play fair. That’s what Trump is forcing.

There's a process to arbitrate those cases. This is just a broad-brush tariff that will incite retaliation and make nobody better off. If we're going to do industrial policy, it should be just subsidizes and infrastructure rather that inefficient taxes.

The fake tough guy doesn't work when your're hurting yourself more than anyone. Making your country more competitive is the way to win at trade, not putting up barriers.

One way to win a negotiation involves convincing the other side you’d rather punch yourself than accept their unfair deal. Basic stuff.

Well, we'll get a slightly worse economy and nothing else in return. Should be fun punching ourselves in the face.

Did you also predict a different President before the election? How about Republican nominee? Did you get that right? Why are you likely to get your prediction of a slightly worse economy correct? Couldn't it turn out much worse instead? Or much better? How could you even know?
