Now that the experts have informed me that deals that are unfair to me are actually a good thing because it keeps the other side from getting angry, all of my negotiations got simpler. I'll just roll over. #POTUS

It's not really about the other side "getting angry" it's about dealing with the consequences if they retaliate, and making an assessment of whether it's worth it. If I screw you over to save $5, and then I lose $100 because I ruined the relationship, was it worth it?

Yes, totally worth it. It shows you will only accept fair deals going forward, even at the price of retaliation.

Aaaaaannnd you just made the same choice my 4 year old made. Too short sighted and prideful to care about what is best for the country.

I described a long term fix with short term costs. Maybe your kid can explain it to you.

Love it. Moreover, we've heard the same pundits and CEOs for decades roll over, had their chances, now complain, and when asked how they would fix it, simply say @POTUS has to try harder to convince these same countries to play fair while rolling over. Now that's insanity.

So is the idea that you pay the penalty of no deal once vs the long term benefit of always having better deals in the future?
