You do realize we put suspected criminals in jail BEFORE the due process happens, right? And if they are later shown to be innocent, they go free. That's normal procedure. And I saw nothing about "taking guns."

Any new legislation changing the age to 21 would apply to new gun sales and transfers. People owning them already would be grandfathered in, but would have to wait until 21 to get new ones. Shotguns are still the preferred home defense weapons. Just saying.

No it doesn’t. Here is how you write the law. No new purchases of semiautomatic weapons are allowed by anyone under the age of 21. Anyone already owning them has no responsibility to register anything.

That is the job of law enforcement. Just like when a person without a license drives. You cannot stop people from committing crimes. The idea is to create resistance. There is no 100% solution.

Analogies are good for explaining a new concept, terrible for persuasion. The concept in this case is that we routinely use age as a risk variable.
