Is your contention that an ex-Marine with a weapon, for example, would have sat it out as well? How often does it need to work to be a good idea? 20% of the time?https://twitter.com/piersmorgan/status/967154268779184128 …

@ScottAdamsSays you are conflating his critique of arming teachers w/ the solution of hiring ex-marine as professional security. Unless you’re suggesting only teachers who have marine exp (under 20% of schools)? In any case, it needs to work more than the risks it creates

No, I am only talking about teachers who are also veterans. There are plenty.

Hmnmm. Do you have stats to back this up, or is this hyperbole to build upon your claims? None of my Army buddies turned out to be teachers... How about the people from your previous units? Maybe we should just incorporate military-style industrial complexes for our schools.

Doesn’t surprise me u had vet teachers. WW2 produced a lot of vets. # of vets decreasing from 24M now to ~15M by 2043. That can change if a war occurs + big enlistment follows. I searched VA, DOL, BLS. no luck. Not lazy. Maybe incompetent search skills (so asking for help). :)

Let me clarify. I am *not at all* against employing vets in schools. I think benefits to be realized well beyond security capacity can be realized (as you allude to). I am merely pressing for a piece of info nobody has found/shared yet. What number of teachers are vets?

Good question. Anecdotally, I would guess the answer is above 75%.

Have to ask for clarification... you’re saying 75% of teachers have military experience?

You need to clarify what you mean. You definitely don't mean 75% of teachers are vets but that appears to be what you said.

Having spent 50% of time in my kids' schools (they're now 25 & 26), I'd have to say you are way off here, at least in California. I know of ONE.

Scott, VetsDOL helped me find data that says while you may have anecdotally seen 75%, actual % looks closer to 3%. How many out of those 300k work in the 3M on-site positions vs the 6M others? How many are willing to carry? We could start here, but the “plenty” claim is bunk.pic.twitter.com/cMRbVxXQxk
