Arming every teacher would be dumb. Paying bonuses to 3-4 well-trained volunteers per campus to augment one security guard is worth discussing.https://twitter.com/farhip/status/966516565507272704 …

Will he be able to get to the gun, open the safe, arm himself, and find the shooter in time? I believe Parkland was around 3 min with 17 casualties. Will there be a safe in every room? If he fails and gets shot, now the shooter has more weapons & ammo. Too many variables.

Shooters have never needed an extra weapon in my memory. And I would think smartly-placed gun safes would cut SOME response times to 60 seconds after the first shot. 10 seconds to recognize gunfire. 10 seconds to reach safe in room. 15 seconds to be out of the room armed.

maybe there could also be perimeter alarms that sense when a loaded weapon is approaching a school (law enforcement weapons would all have a chip installed so as not to trip the alarm) so the armed teachers could have their weapons drawn before 1st shot is fired
