Arming every teacher would be dumb. Paying bonuses to 3-4 well-trained volunteers per campus to augment one security guard is worth discussing.https://twitter.com/farhip/status/966516565507272704 …

Let’s do some math: There are about 100,000 public schools in the U.S. and 3.2 million teachers. If you armed all 3.2 million teachers in all those schools, how many accidents would occur? How many deaths and injuries would result from those accidents? 1/

He said arming teachers/staff with military or firearms training background. Not every teacher. That was an MSM strawman.

I don’t think we could arm all teachers anyway. Aren’t a majority of the progressives?

Exactly. Give them active shooter training during the summer months. Make them take psych evals, background checks, train right alongside cops. And pay them a few thousand extra per year. And trust them. They’re good people!

Have you done the math on how much that training that would cost? How much those bonuses would cost? How much insurance/liability would cost for school districts for the inevitable accidents injuring students? Allocate the funding. Then let’s talk.

The bigger immediate problem is that most school districts have policies strictly forbidding guns on school property. No federal policy is likely to outweigh the liability issues for local districts.

I’d be down, so long as the training was rigorous to weed out the people who probably shouldn’t be carrying a gun.

Besides that, there's this: millions of people in other walks of life carry guns daily. How many accidents, especially accidents that cause deaths and injuries occur? Not very many.

Why not employ many of the unemployed military veterans? Approximately 450,000 unemployed veterans, 180,000 of whom are under 45 years of age (2016 numbers).
