How many teachers would volunteer to carry a gun at work, after training, for an extra $10K per year? Cheaper than adding security guards. #SchoolShooting

5'3" 120 lbs. 7 years experience teaching at an urban high school. Doubtful I could stop someone from taking my gun. I like security guards. They're helpful for breaking up fights, too.

Only need a few volunteers per campus.

It sounds good, in theory, but in order to utilize a weapon safely/effectively under the kind of stress/duress you might imagine would be involved requires significant & recurring training which meets very high standards. As a fallback, sure. But pros should be out front imho.

People panic all the time: when they have a near car crash, get into a shouting match, or get pushed in the street. Sure you'd get volunteers, but unless they are training consistently like military, they're going to do more harm than good.

Law enforcement will provide training--see Sheriff who offered to train for free; 250 teachers signed up. If the Left is serious about arming teachers, @NRA would be more than willing to provide the training (and ongoing) for little to no cost

I would rather they buy dogs than to even consider paying the cost of paying whatever union members you represent or want to create an unfunded benefits for. You’re talking about nonsense. You will not sell me on that nonsense.

I don't want my colleagues carrying weapons. We are trained as teachers.
