Countries don’t buy our debt. They exchange non-interest bearing dollars in their Fed reserve account for interest bearing dollars, or Treasuries, in the Fed securities account. They can be exchange for dollars at point or mature in dollars. It’s a fucking accounting entry

Indirectly it may. E.g. your debt-free biz has clients who are debt-dependent (incl transfer pmts from gov). High i rates can hurt sales.
