I have two questions for @CillizzaCNN : 1) Do you have any black friends? 2) Do you still beat your wife?https://twitter.com/CillizzaCNN/status/961232715529015296 …

i get that it's difficult to prove you are not a racist however i think the point is that Jr giving the 'he knows black people' response is pretty lame

You don't think evidence of not being a racist is evidence of not being a racist?

Having black friends isn't evidence of not being a racist. Thinking it is, though, is not a good sign.

In my opinion, it is strong evidence, albeit not proof. Given that you can't "prove a negative" in any situation, this is about the highest quality of evidence any of us can have. Can you suggest any evidence that would be superior?

The only way to conclude it's "strong evidence" is to be completely clueless about racism. The way ppl discuss other races is much more useful. Hell, simply polling how those races feel about the person in question is way more useful.

You agree with me that in the absence of other information, the white person with black friends is more likely to be less racist than the person who has none by choice. No guarantees, of course.

No. I don't agree with that at all. It's a completely meaningless data point, which AGAIN is why black ppl mock this argument every time it's used. Anyone remotely familiar with black culture would never, ever use that argument.

Everyone understands that the "black friend" argument is considered bad form. You're agreeing with my primary point. I'm saying the attitude is unhelpful. Being friends is at the very least a good first step. You agree with me but don't like it.

It's not bad form. It's laughable and shows ignorance of how racism works. So no, I do not agree with you, but it's fun watching you pretend to read my mind over and over again.

You're agreeing with me and acting like you aren't. Bad form includes your descriptors. And literally everyone knows having a black friend is not PROOF of no racism. But it sure beats NOT having black friends. (You agree with that too.)
