Merry Christmas, Scott!
Nope, RK. PRK called the sanctions an act of war. China and Russia prevented harsher sanctions, which remain an option. PRK's consistent message is they'll attack if provoked, not deter from invasion. PRK asserts the sanctions are a result of USA fear of PRK nukes.
Is this also a shot across Iran's bow, letting them know what they're in for if they don't cut back their program?
Perhaps this is a matter of conveyance. I'll try again. PRK's strategy: 1. PRK is sovereign 2. PRK should be left in peace 3. USA wants PRK off the planet 4. Nuke acquisition validates PRK 5. Threat of using nukes blunts USA meddling How war actualizes is up to USA, not PRK.
I imagine rocket man yelling “Truuuuuuump!!!” Ala Star Trek 2. “Khaaaaan!”
I took issue with the suggestion this indexes around preventing attack or invasion. PRK's actions descend from their desire for acceptance as sovereign among the community of nations. That includes freedom to abuse citizens, and playing loud music without kvetching neighbors.
"Bigly" an understatement. Without emotions logic points to Kim Jong Un has no exit. Back down he loses his support, move forward he loses his life. Dead man walking. N Korea, those alive in 6 months, will see regime change. Will they lose Bigly, some yes some no.
