I think what he said was hyperbole, as "cognitive dissonance is a consequence of a person performing an action that contradicts personal beliefs, ideals, and values; and when confronted with new information that contradicts said beliefs, ideals, and values."

And you can't claim to know his personal beliefs, ideals, and values -- much less everyone you claim to be under the spell of "cognitive dissonance". It's a buzz-term that sounds good to your fans but don't see any relation here Scott.
