I see a guy who refuses to keep his hands where police told him to keep them and also had a gun recently (albeit a pellet gun, but police did not know that). As a jurist, I would have acquitted. Tragic accident, but you can see how it happened on video.

How does the cop know the guy is telling the truth? How does the cop know the guy's friend isn't standing right beyond the doorway with a loaded shotgun (reports of gunS pointed out hotel windows)? How does the cop know the guy isn't some ninja bad guy planning a sneaky move?

The instructions were completely clear. The GUY should have calmly said, "Officer, I want all of us to get home safely tonight. Please tell me exactly what you want me to do and I will follow your instructions to the letter. Let's all be safe."
