It’s a rational strategy. Many on the left are brainwashed to make buying decisions based on wokeness level of the company, while most on the right are not inclined to boycott. Excepting certain niche brands, the worst case scenario is where you become a target of the left.

I think this correct but is more specific. ESG scores essentially provide metrics for that wokeness, and companies (and in some cases, individuals) are doing what they can to improve those scores. Nothing could possibly go wrong there, right?
