"I'm sorry, Mr. Adams, but we can't sell you this ammunition until we see on your Federal Vaccination Passport that you've had all of your shots this year.
You're missing one.
It's just company policy, aligned with Federal statutes and CDC guidance."

Because the government does not have the authority to force it directly...but it can coerce a business to... like withhold it's business license.

I don’t agree with the tweet you are responding to, but I think you are wrong that these checks for large events would be temporary. Why would they ever stop doing those checks in the future.

Why do you need ID and a background check to buy ammo but not to vote? The first method to change the government is the ballot box. Why isn't the government afraid of voters?
-
They are. They're afraid they don't have enough of them.

Sorry I'm responding late. Deadline writing project. Step 1: remove distractions. Others have answered you pretty well. Q: Why? A:"For your own good." & "to protect us all" is always used. But there will be function creep & scope creep. When have the powerful relinquished any?
-
The military has "shot records", a model for "vaccine passports." Function creep: start with CV19, then + CV19v1, CV19v2... CV21... +flu + TB +..all communicables ("If it saves one life!") Scope creep: planes, sports arenas, concerts, big box retail, malls...all public spaces

That’s a good question, if it were to come to fruition.
