Half the country thinks the Republic will be better off if people without IDs vote. If we had a real press in this country, I'd like to see a politician get pushed to explain the reasoning in some detail.

I largely agree with you here Scott, but in fairness to them: I suspect the idea is that if these people are better represented in the electorate, they'll be able to advocate for the other 10p problems higher up the list for themselves.
