Can someone who believes masks and distancing don't help for coronavirus explain why ordinary seasonal flu numbers basically dropped to zero this year? What's the theory to explain both beliefs?

If most tested people don’t get tested unless they have symptoms ..and ~90% of those tested are negative, then what do you think the 90% have or had that prompted them to get a test?

Given that there are (reportedly) hardly any deaths from regular seasonal flu this year, we have a mystery.

It could be that the normal flu isn't measured but estimated whereas Covid is being tested

And flu deaths shouldn't be down this dramatically National(world) wide, there are areas in the US that never masked up nor did they social distance. There should be unportionable flu deaths in these areas. But mysteriously flu deaths are nonexistent straight across the board..

Not necessarily. Influenza is more seasonal that COVID. It doesn't spontaneously generate - it spreads from region to region, globally. Travel is way down, especially internationally. Large gatherings have declined and contact between younger and older ages is reduced.

Not a mystery. The seasonal flu death numbers were always bullshit. Residual of a regression model.

I also think there’s still a lot we don’t understand about Covid transmission pathways. Oh, and the tests pretty well suck, too.

Net sales of over the counter cold and flu remedies where I work (manufacturing plant) are down massively. Seasonal flu has been pretty much wiped out by covid measures. This is non prescription medication that you buy when you get cold/flu symptoms, so no bias in the data.

People with flu, that normally stay at home until very ill, are going to hospital and being treated from the beginning
