Seems a bit of a mystery to me that masks and social distancing completely eliminated normal seasonal flu deaths but not COVID-19. I see a few possible explanations.

I know people who have died from overdoses, parachute accidents, AIDS, murder, suicide, drowning, drunk driving, and just about everything else you can name. But not one example of regular flu complications. I remain a skeptic.

Could it be a definition problem too? I.e. what was the standard for a "flu-related" death? Was it even a priority to track properly? I know of people who caught the flu and ended up with pneumonia later. Question is, would that be "flu-related?"

Yes, influenza often leads to a bacterial pneumonia super infection. Influenza started the process though. Another example - HIV rarely kills the patient. Its the other infections that the body can't fight off due to the ravages of HIV on the immune system that kills the patient

I think they have died with the flu- just like it is happening with the covid - not from but with. In Finland the median age of death with the covid is 84- otherwise Finns die on 81 years old.

My boss got double pneumonia from seasonal flu and was very close to dying - if he wasn’t a healthy 50 year old he would have died - many seniors and very young die each year from similar complications

Compare the number of people you know died in car accidents to the ones you know died of seasonal flu complications. The stats are similar. I'll bet you know more car deaths.

Most experts actually smart ones thought it would be an influenza virus not a Coronavirus which would cause the next pandemic.
