I lost my sense of smell with COVID. I expected to get it back, and would sniff my deodorant stick every morning. After 2 weeks, smell began to return. After 3 weeks, I’ve got 90% of it back.

I once shared a pup tent on bivouac in -50f winter on top of a mountain, with the nastiest farter in the world. The only way to escape it was to go outside and possibly freeze to death. Luckily I survived the cold. Smelling isn't all that great sometimes.

I believe I lost my sense of smell long long ago when I was a child. People are still amazed when I say I can’t smell anything except maybe the strongest ammonia in the air.
