This is the dumb-doctor take, in which he compares the size of the virus to the size of the holes in a mask and calls it a day. Don't be like this guy.https://twitter.com/banthebbc/status/1355809591754428418 …

Perhaps. But how can he be slowing the spread when cases and hospitalizations have never raged this much and we’ve never had more mask wearing?

Wasn’t there a study out of Spain showing it wasn’t being spread via droplets a while ago? If the spread is almost always aerosol he understands and explains it perfectly.

when I wear a mask, my eyeglasses get misty. That's aerosol water from my mouth coming up my nose and out of the mask.

Viral aerosol is a few microns dia but a surgical mask can’t filter < 100 microns Plus it might nebulise exhaled droplets to aerosol

Scott, he was offering an analogy, a simplistic analogy and maybe too simplistic, but technically he is not wrong. The psychological crutch of regular cloth and surgical mask wearing as a means to prevent the spread of the virus needs to be addressed. My 2 cents anyway.

If people understood viral exposure & viral load, they instantly would have known that everything done with shutting down our cities & businesses would only make more people sick. more people in fewer businesses over fewer amount of time is a surefire way to spread an epidemic
