This interpretation would be news to Trump, who walked back his comments by saying: "I was asking a very sarcastic question to the reporters in the room about disinfectant on the inside. But it does kill it, & it would kill it on the hands, & that would make things much better”https://twitter.com/ScottAdamsSays/status/1353453124808130560 …

He talked about "the light" and "disinfectant" as two different things. He never talked about the light AS disinfectant, watch it again. He wanted to "hit the body" with a very powerful light, and then he also wanted to inject the body with a disinfectant.

It's still one of Trump's many unforced errors. Spitballing treatment ideas at a pandemic press conference will probably be used against you.

Funny not one member of the press at that press conference had any issue with what he said isn’t it, despite him taking many questions after.

A common habit in Central America is to leave 2 liter water bottles out in the sun all day. The sun disinfects the water. Interesting habit.

Clear cognitive dissonance here. Using confirmation bias to only spot evidence to support the conclusion. In any case, even in the new quote, Trump was talking about UV light. Which is often used to disinfect hands along with a spray of liquid sanitizer.
