After I watched the video of the beating death of the police officer at the hands of the Capitol protesters, the later shooting of the first protester through the window looks justified to me. Or at least that should be our default assumption.

Someone in that mob might have had a suicide vest or a bomb, and walking in the other direction would have led to mass murder. With a mob right in front of him I can't judge the guy who fired, as tragic as the outcome was.

I don't disagree with your sentiment, however, it is driven by emotion. The shooting was either within the officer's "rules of engagement" or it wasn't. We shall see in the subsequent investigation or civil suit discovery (if their isn't a settlement).

I don’t know if you are serious or being sarcastic but let me tell you this. Take these two statements out of your discussion of use of force. No one fires warning shots and no one shoots them in the leg. They are not trained that way. Ever.
