It's not accurate. The Democrats wanted to top the existing (terrible) bill with $2,000 and pass that thing. Trump didn't ask for that. He wanted a standalone bill with only the stimulus and none of the weird crap, which the Democrats finally agreed to do next week.

People are still misunderstanding the fact there are two distinct bills rolled into one: the COVID relief bill, and the FY21 Omnibus spending & appropriations bill (which also includes the FY21 NDAA).
