But... that would mean admitting that the government isn't God, and that policies can't just make natural disasters go away. I'm not sure everyone's ready to accept this thought experiment!

We didn’t have a bad outcome. We had a bad medical establishment playing with numbers & denying treatments for political reasons. And still our numbers don’t reach pandemic level in a country of 330 mil. Ppl have no perspective.

Everything can be better. But if Biden had been president he would have done all the unimportant parts right (consistent role modeling of masks that would influenced zero conservatives, etc.) while getting the closing travel and pushing vaccine schedules up wrong.
