There is also an easier explanation: people give zero fucks about mask mandates.

Other factors- vastly increased testing capabilities, testing inaccuracies- especially high false positive rates, raw data with no refinement for retest either... the list is large... Scott has a point besides the inexperience comment.

Show show us the good clean data showing they work. The onus is on the people forcing others to cover their face against their will. Innocent until proven guilty.

There are lab studies citing 70% effectiveness, but the real world isn't a lab, so at the very least, the virus is spreading in the 30% ineffectiveness. Everyone I know who has gotten it has been completely mask compliant, myself included.

We’ve relied on the miracle of the immune system for hundreds of yrs. Improvements in exercise, diet, medical treatments to dramatically extend life expectancy. Terrible flu seasons (~100k dead) never required masks, but 300k (mostly elderly/obese) now demands it?

What data/charts are you seeing that demonstrates mask efficacy? Don’t you think all these charts showing similar outcomes whether mask/no mask are best explained by seasonality of location?
