The problem with this take is that every expert who says masks DO work understands how small the virus is compared to the mask structure. Doesn't that tell you this is not the killshot point you thought it was?https://twitter.com/JWard_73/status/1340294605036789765 …

The problem is “masks” is far too generic of a term. From N95 to cloth to handmade from Etsy to gaiters, there’s a massive range. And then when experts speak of masks, they’re undoubtedly referring to CLEAN ones. Not ones reused or worn for hrs. And they’re assuming proper use

And don't forget compound interest. 10% decrease in each generation of infections adds up to a lot more than 10% eventually. Assuming people stick to it.

99% don't wear them right though. They'll wear gloves then take them off to use the keypad on the credit card machine, then take their mask down to talk to someone then put it back on then put on their gloves. At that point they might as well be licking doorknobs.

What about the people that wind up with thrush or other respiratory illnesses due to the mask slowing respiration and preventing their lungs from properly transpiring moisture? The very best thing I did to get over C19 pneumonia was talk to people from across the yard.

I had a few family members stop by for various reasons and I stayed about 50 ft from them so I had to talk quite loudly. Forcing that much air out actually helped dry out my lungs. Left lung was quite bad, literally coughing water up, yelling helped me dry out tremendously.
