Legal question: Trump is asking for a machine recount in Georgia, which is apparently his right, but what if it can’t be done because signature matching is no longer possible?

Aren't they supposed to keep all the stuff required for voting and vote-verification for at least 22 months? How else would you be able to check which votes are legal and which ones aren't? Wouldn't that possibly invalidate the entire election? I'm referring to 'spoliation'

Envelopes with signatures are separated after opening. Can’t check later.

And that's how anonymous voting is supposed to work, right?

Signatures are checked when the ballots are received, this process is done by representatives of both parties. There is no reason to assume the verification process was done incorrectly. Keeping ballots with their signatures is giving the government a record of your vote.

Signature checking is always carried out. The demand for a recheck misunderstands fundamentally how anonymous voting is supposed to work. Frankly I find the idea of a "libertarian" party advocating that people's voting preferences remain traceable a little creepy.

That was pretty much what I got to. I can't find anything that says signature checks were not carried out.
