Legal question: Do "hate crime" laws apply when Trump supporters are targeted by mobs or individuals? If not, why not?

In fact a person could file a class action, so if Trump supporters as a group faced a disparate action, say lack of police support or hotel refusals etc.

I was thinking that same thing. Is it time to add political affiliation to protected class? Might be.

The law protects in both direction. However, the duty to prosecute determination rests solely with the District Attorney or Attorney General depending on who hold jurisdiction. Example: CJ Roberts chooses to defer Political Questions but SCOTUS has a right to decide them.

Time to quit the bastardization of language and decency, and punish crimes for being crimes. The term “hate” added to crimes has resulted in normalizing “regular” crime, and demonizing people for having an opinion.
