I’m in day two without power and it’s 30-something outside. I was prepared for it, but it still isn’t pleasant. I’ve decided I like having electrical power enough that I’m going to make sure I’m not without it again. I think a whole-house diesel generator might be in the cards.

Or propane. Both are more efficient than diesel.

Hard to a store large amounts of natural gas. Diesel is perfect for long term storage.

You don't store the gas. You use your existing gas line when the electric dies.

Definitely less maintenance with natural gas generator (if he has that running to his home). We have a 12 hour, 1/2 house gasoline one. Requires regular oil changes, and fills. If I had it to do over again, NG would be way to go.

or propane if too remote
