Systems > Goals If you want to get fit, don't set a goal of losing X amount of pounds. Instead, create the mindset of, "I'm a healthy person and healthy people workout. Therefore, I will work out". It's much more effective over the long term.

This applies to anything in life. Setting a system and working on it ensures that you're progressing perpetually as opposed to just working towards a goal, then saying, "now what?" and going back to your old habits. It also makes you focus on the journey over the destination.
