I'd argue it's more offensive to bi-, pan-, genderqueer or questioning folks that any expression of sexual preference is deemed "offensive". It's a different term, not a slur for orientation. Ppl of certain sexual orientation are still perfectly free to express sexual preference.

Correct. I absolutely have preferences.

maybe the argument is that your preferences are set in stone, so they shouldn't be considered preferences? My head is starting to hurt.

It’s so weird. I’m genuinely fluid and my preferences change with age, place, environments, etc. Also I know plenty of straight guys who are with women but would be with men if on an island. It wouldn’t be their top preference. Some gay people prefer straight people etc.

In the end I think there's a fear that if sexuality is a preference, then it's easier to argue that it's from brainwashing or something. I think those days are long gone (in the U.S.), but I understand the fear I guess.

Hypnotists can change your preferences for just about anything, temporarily or permanently. Not in every case, but often enough to debunk the notion that we are born as a final draft.

@jussyc123 As a hypnotist, do you concur? This reaffirms my decision to never let you hypnotize me.pic.twitter.com/xqt4XDn0iJ2 replies 0 retweets 2 likes -
Replying to @arrington @ScottAdamsSays and
Lol, absolutely not. You will only change what you really want. So I can’t make someone give up smoking unless they really want it for example. No way you could change sexual preference (unless you wanted it if course

That’s the ethical answer, and I applaud you for it. But a hypnotist can also first change what you want. (Again, not everyone.)
