But they are cherry picking, there are many examples of cases rising after mandates. These are explained by mandating masks late. But cases going down could be mask mandates even later. There are no abrupt changes. And its conflated with distancing, which does work.

Are you confident enough in that report to tell your older parents......don't worry.....people got masks? What are the odds an asymptomatic carrier can pass on COVID to anyone? When distanced? What iff I am more likely to get hit by lightning than dying of COVID?

Why specify “during a pandemic”? Respiratory viruses are transmitted similarly. We have studies from before 2020 which look at different types of masks and influenza-like viruses.
