Going forward it would be useful to debunk the largely unchallenged premise that it should be as easy for people to vote as possible.

Unfortunately, everybody "knows" that making it hard to vote favors Republicans. (I don't know if they really know, but it doesn't matter)

It should be equally difficult for all groups to vote, however difficult it is. It’s currently easier for retirees to vote because they have more free time (lower opportunity costs). That leads to overrepresentation. National holiday solves the problem.
