My disagreement is just on approach. You can’t practically address societal unrest and boycotts by saying “I don’t agree with your assessment of why you should be complaining.” You have to listen and you have to work to address the complaints being made.

One can empathize with protesters for being fooled by the Fake News, and for their lived reality in many cases, and systemic racism in general. And no one wants bad police conduct. But it is poor strategy to focus on the lowest priority in any realm.

my only difference in opinion with you is that, practically, it does not work the way you want it to. You never have the luxury of imposing a “better” solution on people and then saying “watch and see.” people will only accept solutions they feel address their stated concerns

Addressing a low priority problem with resources needed correct root cause hurts everyone. It allows the problem worsen while the resources that were needed to fix it are flushed

Simple proof that isn’t true—why didn’t Kenosha police have body cameras? That is a very simple law that can be passed universally.

George Floyd was on camera. Died of an OD.

The camera provides all of the facts and hence accountability. It doesn’t end all human negative conduct.

Incorrect. The camera has given us four destructive hoaxes so far.

More information is preferable to less information. You are taking issue with insufficient information. I want as much information as possible and I would write a bill to deny qualified immunity in any use of force case not recorded by a body camera.

Cameras nullify false police reports. Nothing is perfect, but the nature of your complaint appears to be misleading or insufficient footage. I think having zero footage is never a preferable alternative. Otherwise we are not having a logical discussion geared toward progress.

History proves video is the most capable liar, as in five video hoaxes that made national news so far in this president’s term.

This has ceased to be a rational discussion because less information is not preferable to more information. society already decided this when it put instant replay in all sporting events to make game outcomes more just. Society entitled to same level of fairness as sports.

There is far less likelihood the camera worn by the officer and maintained by the police department will show “fake news” than a camera held by a bystander at a different angle. you should be the first person arguing for universal body cameras.
