Depends on how you define success. They are not successful if you define by the number of deaths/1 Million. In no way is Sweden a success - Germany is UK: 609/1 M pop Sweden: 573 deaths/ 1 M US: 523 deaths/1 M Brazil: 507 deaths/1 M Germany: 111/1 M Germany A Sweden: F

I don't think Germany will every get more than 200 deaths/1 Million. We'll see. However, you have a good point to add in the economy to the equation. Not sure how to measure the hit to the economy due to COVID-19 & separate that from the $billions lost due to city riots in US.

Not if there is a vaccine. Also, it is much better to slowly get to that number so that hospitals can adequately focus on patients that they have instead of assigning multiple patients per caregiver and potentially running out of beds, forcing them to turn people away.

Also, so far the Lockdown Deaths (missed Dx & timely treatments) have been largely ignored by almost every “expert”, and the true number will never be known as it will take months to years to show up.

Lockdowns also cause deaths (delayed non-Covid treatment, suicide, OD, violence). Policy needs to take this into account. Sweden’s approach makes the most sense as a starting point, with increased attention and resources for protecting those the most at-risk from Covid.
