I need a ruling on this: Is it racist/sexist to avoid hiring someone you reasonably believe has a 90% chance of disliking you personally because of your political views?

I've worked with people who have vastly different political views and it went fine. We just didn't talk politics. We spoke of work and what was needed to be successful. It can be done but both people have to put the work above the politics.

You cleverly changed the question. It's about the employee hating YOU. It's not about a difference in politics.

If they do their job well, I don't really care if they like or hate me.

It’s a ticking time bomb waiting to explode—after skill set, when interviewing, one of my main considerations is whether I would enjoy being around that person—spend too much time working to not enjoy co-workers.

If they dislike me personally, that invariably leads to some form of job sabotage, bad morale in the department, and vindictive response if job review is not as expected, and lawsuit upon termination. No!

An employee that obviously hates me won‘t be given a chance to screw me over.

Yeah I worked for a boss I despised and she despised me. We hated one another. We were also EXTREMELY successful when we worked together because all we did was work. So. Yeah this shit doesn’t matter. You can despise someone and work for them, it’s called professionalism.
