Reminder: Anyone who says Sweden was smarter than the United States in its coronavirus management doesn't understand how management works. Lots of countries guessed on strategy, and some were luckier than others. That is not an indication of skill. Not even a little.

But the people who rejected Wuhan extremes did so based on science. Science never suggested we should react to this virus so extremely. A bunch of scientists did, but it was because of their interpretation of complex predictive models, not actual science. The countries that did

There was no science in the early days, just misinformation. It was all guessing. And knowing which "experts" to trust turned out to be guessing too.

Science tells us what to do with misinformation. You're right that science wasn't telling us how to react, because science said, "We don't know yet. Stay steady, pay attention, and hope for the best." Basically, wash your hands and stay home if you're sick. That's was science.

Risk management is above science. Everyone who followed science alone was stupid.

Plenty of scientific knowledge were available on respiratory viruses. This was perhaps a more a virulent strain of the Coronaviruses family, but to say we knew next to *nothing* in March 2020 is patently absurd.

The US was about three weeks behind Germany in the Covid 19 pandemic. We believe science and Merkel. America preferred to believe a bankrupt casino operator. Look at the result, and ignorance is no excuse.

It wasnt "Just guessing" because swedish epidemiologists have made decisions based not only on science of similar epidemics, but also on politics. Their epidemiologists have been doing interviews since the beggining of this, and they were right about nearly everything.

Except that not locking down wasn’t even an option to be considered. POTUS did not have all options on a table and a fact based discussion by the so called experts. The only option they gave him was 14 days to bend the curve and then CYA after that.

There is still misinformation. But at no point were lockdowns a legitimate health policy. They are purely to destroy the economy. Sweden was one of the few that ignored the directives to lock their population up. There is 0% chance this was not pre-planned.

Sweden did lockdown- didn't mandate but people social distanced enough to stop the spread; impact on Swedish economy similar to countries which did lockdown, roughly 10% loss GDP in Q2; Nordic neighbors had much lower mortality, w/similar economic hit -legitimate policy, methinks
